Mini-Essay Prompt: Who Are You Not?
An occasional assignment to motivate you to write some new material
Another quarter, another first class meeting on Zoom. Despite all the mixed feelings many of us are having about this new year (which in some unwelcome ways already feels kinda like previous years) we’re also out here doing our danged best.
I’m super excited about the new cohort of English 138 students I met today and have high hopes for the winter. (I also have a couple pieces for The Los Angeles Times to finish.)
You know what my currents students are working on tonight? Their first mini-essay. The prompt? You guessed it: who are you not?
Any of my former students want to give it a shot, as well? I’d love to receive a few and maybe I’ll make a post out of the best responses, even if they’re brief. Even one really good sentence would be awesome.
Meanwhile, get ready for a great guest post later this week.
